Unlocking is accomplished by pressing on the green indicator, then turning the sleeve. The green visual indicator is visible only when the gate is locked.

This system is suitable for difficult environments where contaminants (mud, ice) could cause an automatic locking system to jam. The red visual indicator is visible when the carabiner is unlocked.
